PS4 System Version 2 Will Allow Shared Gameplay

Sony has announced some of the features of its upcoming software update to version 2.0 for PlayStation 4. One of the new features is called Share Play and is definitely something that should be interesting for many gamers.

The Share Play features include two new remote multi player modes, both of which give players the chance to experience playing with friends despite not actually owning their friends’ games. Pass The Controller lets two players alternate turns on a game, as if they’re sitting next to each other on a couch just passing the controller between them.

Play Together works in a similar way, but allows users to actually play together in real-time, head-to-head, instead of sequentially. This means you can play fighters or have collaborative game-play without one of the players involved actually owning the game. This is game changing for games. It greatly lowers the cost of entry for having great multi player experiences. Lets hope many developers with join in on this new system.

In the official blog post, Sony mentions NBA2K, Towerfall and Child of Light to work with the new feature, but we don’t know how many more titles it will include. System software update 2.0 for the PlayStation 4 is scheduled to ship this fall, and also includes YouTube app support for sharing and probably many more new features and bug fixes.

Thank you Sony for providing us with this information.
