We brought you news of a new PS4 update 2 months ago, and over the last couple of weeks, systems have been updated. but the recent PS4 update is causing Wi-Fi problems, leaving many players unable to play any of their games online.
The update brought a whole new set of features, some of which were very much needed. One of the major features added was the ability to connect an external HDD, up to a massive 8TB! This in itself was fantastic news, with space on the console being very limited, it meant you had to decide which games you wanted to have installed, highly frustrating and time consuming.
There is, however, one huge problem being caused by the update. If you are seeing the NW-31297-2 error code, you’re in for a bad time. It appears the update has all but killed your ability to connect to Wi-Fi, so if you can’t hardwire directly to your router, you’re going to have to wait for an update.
It is unknown how long it will take for this update to arrive but I am sure this is a huge priority for Sony. There’s also the question of how you’re going to download it if you can’t connect to the internet. At some point, console owners are going to have to hardwire their PS4 to their router. If you don’t have an ethernet cable, you’ll need to borrow or buy one in time for the fix.
Sony do have a troubleshooting page for this error code but don’t get your hopes up, it has been reported that this method, in most cases, simply doesn’t work. For now, all you can do if you do have this problem is sit tight, and get your equipment ready ahead of an imminent update fix.
Are you seeing the error code? Did the troubleshooting page suggestion fix your issue?
