PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. You either love it, hate it or are sick of hearing about it. If you fall into the latter category then I’m sorry, but changes to the chaotic lobby system are afoot.
For anyone who has played PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (or PUBG) once thing we can pretty much all agree on is that the lobby system opens up a whole new realm of chaos. Generally speaking, you get 40 people speaking 10 different languages, mass gunfire and occasionally someone who decides to repeatedly punch you in the groin.
Despite PUBG now being in a full and formal release (for PC at least), the lobby area is certainly one where the game’s issues get highlighted en masse.
In an attempt to improve this, a report via Eurogamer indicates that the developers are changing the lobby locations for players so that the insanity can at least be toned down a little. Which would also possibly allow for actual intelligible conversation to be made.
The player lobby will now be divided into 4 separate areas. Each with around 20-25 people depending on how the matchmaking is going. In addition to this, all guns, which were found on nearby picnic tables, have now been removed.
While you can still punch your chosen victim in the crotch, you can no longer put a crossbow bolt through it.
The developers have also said that as part of the changes, a roll-out will be made of their cheat detection system which should hopefully see some improvement in an area which has been under much criticism in recent weeks.
Hopefully, the changes will all be for the better. That being said, I think a small part of me is going to miss the general insanity of the lobby. I actually didn’t mind the problems. Well, except perhaps the shouters and screechers in foreign languages.
