Despite Call of Duty Warzone perhaps stealing some of its battle royal thunder away, PUBG (Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds) still remains an amazingly popular title. And, it should be noted, for more than a few reasons. With regular updates, new content, and more on the way in the very near future, while it might not be quite as popular as when it released a little over 4-years ago, it still manages to garner nearly half a million players (just on PC) every single day. This, even despite the game still having an uphill battle on its hands with cheaters.
In terms of something new, however, following a report via PCGamesN, leaked information has revealed that PUBG Corporation is very likely, or shortly set to begin, work on a brand new gaming title!
The information was spied by known leaker ‘PlayerIGN’ who noticed a number of new job listings being created on the developer’s Korean website. Referring to the title as ‘Vertical’ (which may only be a work in progress designation), it is understood that this upcoming project will be a sci-fi-based shooter with open-world and even puzzle elements.
Utilizing Unreal Engine 4, this is very familiar ground for the developer and, as such, certainly sounds if not promising, then at the very least an interesting development!
Given that PUBG Corporation is still in the hiring phase, we shouldn’t expect to hear anything concrete regarding ‘Vertical’ until (probably) at least late next year. On the whole, however, it will be interesting to see what they do in seemingly breaking away from PUBG. In terms of an overall sequel for that title, however, well… It doesn’t appear to be coming any time soon!
