CES 2016: The latest Silent NAS from QNAP, the HS-251+, is on display here at CES 2016, a well-equipped multimedia hub that supports 2GB of DDR3L RAM, up to 16TB of storage via 2 x 8TB hard drives, and as the name would suggest, completely silent operation thanks to its passively cooled design.
Equipped with a pair of Gigabit LAN ports, dual HDMI, high-speed USB ports and more, it offers up fantastic connectivity, allowing you to hook up to your home network and get the faster transfer speeds when you need them. It’s going to be great for those who use multimedia apps such as Plex, or even for those who need a compact and silent way to backup their important data. It’ll certainly beat out any of the current crop of smart TVs in terms of performance and features, making for a great AV setup upgrade or addition to your desktop.
With such a compact form factor and a completely silent design, this is certainly an attractive solution for those who don’t want, or don’t have the space for, bigger 2 bay NAS systems, which are often a bit noisier too. Would you add the 251+ to your network? Or do you prefer a bigger, more traditional NAS unit?
