If the new QNAP TVS-x61 series with AMD processors weren’t the right match for you, then the new TVS-x71 series Turbo vNAS based on Intel CPUs with 4K Ultra-High-Definition and 10Gb Ethernet support might be.
The new series is available as 4, 6 and 8-bay tower form-factor models and all of them are powered by the latest Intel Haswell CPUs, but which one depends on the model choice. These processors deliver high performance with over 2,300 MB/s throughput and 135,000 IOPS for CPU-consuming tasks such as running Virtualization Station, real-time 4K video playback and transcoding, and serving large numbers of simultaneous connections. All units have four Gigabit Ethernet ports, three USB 3.0 ports, and SATA 3 6Gb/s ports for 2.5 and 3.5-inch drives.
“The high-quality hardware provides the power for users to operate multiple virtual machines using QNAP Virtualization Station, transcode high resolution videos in real-time or offline, and to enhance their business productivity with integrated SMB features,” said David Tsao, product manager of QNAP.
4K video playback via the integrated HDMI has minimal impact on the NAS performance and the TVS-x71 series delivers real-time 4K (H.264) and 1080p video transcoding that converts videos to universal formats for playback on PCs, mobile devices, and Smart TVs.
QNAP’s exclusive QvPC Technology includes VM integration, multimedia transcoding, HDMI output, cloud integration and NAS connection technologies by simply connecting a keyboard, mouse and to the NAS. Users can directly access stored data, run multiple applications on Windows/Linux/UNIX/Android-based VMs, surf the web with Chrome or Firefox, and enjoy 4K videos with 7.1 surround sound through XBMC, and much more.
The new TVS-x71 series Turbo vNAS should be available now or very shortly at retailers around the world.
