QNAP launches an all-new TS-x28A series. The new series is for the entry-level market and intended for home users. It includes the 1-bay TS-128A and the 2-bay TS-228A models. Not only are these new entry-level devices, they mark a change in the available features. All of QNAP’s NAS models with 1GB RAM or more now support Snapshots. Usually, only more expensive NAS units that feature snapshots.
The TS-x28A series features a Realtek RTD1295 quad-core 1.4 GHz processor with 1 GB RAM. That should offer plenty of performance for most home users’ needs. That includes multimedia streaming and general data storage.
The TS-x28A series also comes with QTS 4.3.4, the latest version of QNAP’s award-winning operating system. QTS 4.3.4 introduces enhanced snapshot features with lowered hardware resource requirements. Now NAS with 1 GB RAM can benefit from snapshot protection too. Users of the TS-x28A series can enjoy these advanced data protection capabilities without breaking the budget.
Dan Lin, Product Manager of QNAP, said: “We are very proud of the TS-x28A series as we believe it marks the beginning of a new era for entry-level NAS. By supporting snapshots, home users are empowered with an advanced backup function that can help them mitigate the threat of malware. The TS-x28A series is also packed full of amazing features to empower digital homes, including a full range of applications for multimedia, file sharing, and much more.”
Features offered by the QTS operating system include file storage, sharing, backup, synchronization, and data protection. Windows, macOS and Linux users can all use the TS-x28A series as a file storage platform. Non-NAS users can also get access to files via share links.
Qsync can automatically synchronize files across devices while Hybrid Backup Sync provides a complete multi-layer file backup solution. Newly available for entry-level models, snapshots record the NAS status at a single point in time. This allows them to rapidly restore files and data back to this status in the event of accidental modification, deletion, data loss, or malware attacks.
The versatile multimedia features of the NAS series include support for 360-degree photos and videos. There are also a variety of mobile companion apps to make the most of the TS-x28A series NAS, including Qphoto – an app that allows you to take photos and videos and save them directly to the TS-x28A.
