QNAP Reveal 12-bay Thunderbolt 3 NAS at CES 2017

QNAP take their storage very seriously, as can be seen with their new TVS-1282T3 which is on display here at CES 2017. This behemoth of a NAS may be a little overkill for your typical Plex server, but for SMB it’s packed full of impressive features to suit your needs. The 12-bay NAS is not short on mounting options. With 8 x 2.5″/3.5″ SATA 6GB/s or SSD, plus another 4 x 2.5″ drives, as well as an additional 2 x M.2 should you need them for a bit of a speed boost.
It comes in two models, the Intel Core i5-7500 @ 3.4Ghz Quad-core, or the faster i7-7700 @ 3.6Ghz Quad-core, with each having room for up to 64GB of DDR4 (16GB x 4). Both models come with the same drive support, as well as Thunderbolt 3 connectivity for blazing performance, as well as 2 x 10GBASE-T ports. Finally, mounting options include Single Disk, JBOD and RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 or 10.
For video rendering and editing over a network, or any network and drive response time intensive tasks, this should be a popular choice. It won’t come cheap, but we’ll bring you the retail numbers as soon as we have them.
