QNAP has rolled out their latest NAS and called it the TS-831X. This new NAS is designed to be a new cost-effective 8-bay business NAS with a quad-core 1.7 GHz CPU to provide users with enhanced system performance for daily business operations. Alongside the standard models with 8GB or 16GB RAM, there is also a model with 4GB RAM (TS-831X-4G) to provide an affordable option for budget-conscious users.
“The TS-831X features a highly-competitive specification, including built-in 10GbE ports, containerized apps, and SSD caching, making it a favorable choice for small and medium-sized organizations,” said Jason Hsu, Product Manager of QNAP, adding “The TS-831X-4G option provides an accessible choice for budget-constrained organizations to benefit from the TS-831X’s amazing functionalities without breaking the bank.”
The new TS-831X uses an AnnapurnaLabs Alpine AL-314 quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A15 processor and it features either 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB DDR3 RAM (all models are upgradable to 16GB). The system features hardware-accelerated encryption, and SSD caching along with two built-in 10GbE SFP+ ports for high-speed network deployment and a PCIe expansion slot for installing an additional 10GbE or 1GbE network adapter if needed.
The NAS comes with the latest in QNAPs app development such as Container Station which allows users to deploy Internet of Things (IoT) apps for additional business opportunities, and the VJBOD function allows for using unused space to expand the storage capacity of other QNAP NAS units. The 8-bay TS-831X can also meet growing storage demands by using QNAP 8-bay expansion enclosures to scale up to 24 drives. All these features and more provide everything needed for growing businesses looking for a backup solution, restoration, private cloud, and to future-proof their IT infrastructure.
The new QNAP NAS is available now and at the time of writing, I could find the 8GB model listed for just £651.60 and the 16GB model for £814.80.
