be quiet Pure Rock 120mm CPU Cooler Review

be quiet! have obviously made this a product that keeps to the same aesthetics as their performance models, but let’s see if they actually perform the same. At stock it really does struggle which is a shame, it falls far below the standard I was expecting and with a delta temp of 41 degrees under load we can see that it is in the lower half of our table. This is by no means in the danger zone, but it is a shame to see from such a well-known brand.
When overclocked our processor gives out more heat and this is what the be quiet! Pure Rock seems to like. The fan kicks in more and we see it jumps up the table beating some rather big names such as Corsair and Noctua which is amazing.
When we get out our decibel reader, we can actually see a correlation with the results giving us a better understanding of exactly what is happening with the temperatures. When our processor is at stock, the cooler is almost silent coming top of our table. It seems that the fan does as much work as it needs to be quiet whilst keeping your CPU from overheating.
Even when we have our CPU overclocked to 4.5ghz the cooler is still almost silent. A Db reading of only 40 is excellent. Ok it might mean we sacrifice some of the cooling performance, but for those who want silence as well as good performance, this is your cooler.
