be quiet! Silent Base 800 Mid-Tower Chassis Review
Introduction
be quiet! are an industry leader when it comes to creating high-end components. They’ve won countless awards from technology publications around the world for their ultra-quiet, high-performance CPU coolers, fans and power supplies; a fair few of those awards came from us here at eTeknix. It’s with this award-winning performance in mind that I’m extremely excited about the product we have in for review today; the very first be quiet! chassis.
The be quiet! Base 800 is their first attempt at the chassis market and while there are plenty of chassis on the market to choose from already, be quiet! are eager to show the world what they can do. Naturally the clue is in the name, be quiet! are dedicated to creating computer components that run super quiet; their chassis looks set to continue that trend. Equipped with Silent Wings fans, anti-vibration fittings, dust filters, sound dampening materials and durable panels, the Base 800 looks set to be one of the best chassis’ on the market. So let’s get right to it and take a closer look at what it has to offer.
The packaging is nicely designed, with the usual black and orange theme we’ve comes to expect from be quiet!
Around the back of the box you’ll find a quick run down of the major features and components of the chassis; we’ll take a closer look at those in a moment.
The chassis is nicely packaged, with a protective cover over it, plenty of padding and masking tape on the panels to stop them moving in transit.
In the box you’ll find the user manual, two clip-in feet, screws, cable ties and anti-vibration rubber hard drive rails.
The feet are durable and feature tough rubber grips to ensure your chassis doesn’t slide around.
Ah yes, Very, very nice. A little on the dear side but I wouldn’t hesitate to throw the extra bob at it if I liked what I saw, I’m a big fan (ahem) of be quiet! stuff, it must be my Anglo/German blood. If I have one criticism of it, it would be the USB ports stretching down the length of the top cover. I don’t plop my cases on the floor, they sit right next to me so ports situated along the front would be far more convenient, just a minor gripe. Hopefully I’ll be seeing one in the metal pretty soon and even more hopefully I’ll be able to persuade my friends and testing/reviewing ex-colleagues to pass it my way after they’ve given it the once over.
One question, can the top fit a 280mm radiator like the corsair h110
You can mount a corsair h110i gt but you might have a problem if u have asus maximus VII hero because of the position of the cpu power cable…im talking from what happened to me…
yes, since this case shares a frame with corsair 300R/450D, it’s exactly the same clearance issues up top.
