QWOP Creater has Made a New Game and it Looks Even More Frustrating!

QWOP

Do you remember QWOP?

QWOP was a bit of a phenomenon when it launched nearly 10 years ago. For those unfamiliar with the game, you controlled an athlete attempting to run 100m. Sounds simple so far right? Well, the problem is that you control him and more specifically the individual muscles in the runner’s legs.

It looked like a hilarious glitch of a game, but that’s really how it worked!

The Q and W keys would do the left legs thigh and calf with the O and P key doing the right leg. Therefore it required a crazy level of coordination that often left your runner falling over without actually achieving any distance. In fact, in many cases, you could actually get a negative score.

Still confused? Here’s a video of it in action.

So what is this new QWOP game?

The game is called ‘Getting Over It – Wish Bennett Foddy’. Bennett Foddy incidentally is the creator of QWOP.

The entire purpose of the game is to simply get a man in a large soup pot over a hill. Once again, sounds simple (if a little strange) but the controls are bound to be horrifically tricky to master.

On his website, Bennett Foddy has said that he has designed this game with 1 purpose in mind, to hurt you. By this, he doesn’t mean literally. I think he more wants to crush your spirit of determination. Fans of Undertale might enjoy this.

Bennett Foddy has always reveled in creating difficult games. Although, ironically, not Dark Souls difficult. His games are always intentionally difficult by design. Actually, thinking about it, yes! Dark Souls difficult if you ever tried playing it on a keyboard.

In a pretty cool move, the game is set to be launched initially via the Humble Bundle website on October 6th, 2017. A Steam launch is also planned, but not until December.

Do you think you have enough patience to handle ‘Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy’? Let us know what you think the hardest game you’ve played is!
