Overclocking the HIS R9 270X IceQ X² Turbo Boost graphics card was a little on the disappointing side. While the memory overclocking was solid, thanks to the use of 6GHz Hynix memory chips, the GPU core overclocking was weak. Yet the card clocked higher than the reference design – which is good, though the actual performance from a higher clock than the reference design was lower – which is strange. P8960 is still better than the out of the box P8652 score, but it is hardly a huge jump. Overclocking didn’t really impress me at all on this graphics card, but I think that is probably more to do with the silicon lottery rather than the card itself.
