After months of speculation and the successful launch of the 6800 series cards from AMD there has been a lot of hype about the new 6900 Cayman based cards and their due date.
A lot of consumers were worried that these cards would not make it to retailers before Christmas but it has now been confirmed that the cards will be released on December 15th and yes we do know that a lot sites are still speculating about this date but we have first-hand information directly from AMD.
One of the alleged reasons for the delay was down to the drivers needed but from what we’ve seen it seems everything is right on track.
Due to this delay it does mean that the 6990 Antilles card will also be slightly delayed but we do know that it will definitely be worth the wait.
From our insider retailers we are on the understanding that both cards should be plentiful in quantities especially from the bigger retailers in the market.
Pricing wise we should see the Cayman-based cards slightly lower than the GTX 580 from Nvidia, but whether this means performance will be saturated is something that we can’t comment on until the 15th.
