Raidmax Unveils X08 Open Air Tempered Glass Chassis
Ron Perillo / 7 years ago
RAIDMAX is introducing a new open-air style chassis called the X08. It is unlike previous RAIDMAX designs and uses dual tempered-glass side panels. Comparisons to the Cougar Conquer case are hard to ignore, although the X08 does not appear to have a tilt on its motherboard tray. However, the front panel positioning is at an angle, and they have similar open-air styling. The internal layout itself looks fairly standard with the power supply at the bottom and the motherboard directly above it.
The top and front panels are made of aluminium. So are the motherboard tray and the support on the right. There does not appear to be any fans on the promo photos, although the top has a 120mm mounting area. Not that it will require many fans since it is an open air case design after all. Moreover, the fan mounting area is higher than the top of the motherboard tray, which opens up room for installing thicker liquid cooling radiators.
Pricing and Availability
Raidmax has not made any announcements regarding pricing or availability yet. Their cases tend to be closer to the affordable side. In fact, all the cases they have for sale on NewEgg.com costs less than $100 USD. Considering the Cougar Conquer has an MSRP of $349 USD, it should be fairly easy for them to undercut it.
