Raijintek Metis Plus Aluminium Mini-ITX Chassis Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Raijintek Metis Plus has a lot going for it, but few things are greater than the price. The chassis costs just £52.99 from OCUK and comes in a wide choice of excellent colours to suit your taste.

Overview

There’s so much to love about this chassis. While I admit that it is not perfect, any faults that it has are quickly brushed aside. Considering the retail price, when you see the finished product, all is forgiven. The first issue with this case isn’t an “issue” as such. Space is tight inside the case, and getting your hardware installed is a headache. However, if you didn’t want to have a tight build space, you shouldn’t buy a small mini-ITX chassis. Of course, the bonus of this is that once install it, the footprint of the chassis is small enough to sit on your desk, so it’s a pro/con scenario.

Airflow is improved, with that mesh on the top panel allowing your GPU to draw cold air in from the top of the case. The PSU, and CPU will also rely on this passive intake, but since you’re not going to get enthusiast grade hardware in here, cooling shouldn’t be a huge issue anyway. The inclusion of the new LED lit fan at the back is a welcome treat too. It’ll keep the air moving as any fan should, but it also looks great when the power is on, lighting up the inside of the case so you can enjoy a clear view of your hardware through that side panel window.

The choice of colours on the Raijintek range is superb, and they’re vivid too, making it great fun to colour match the case with your hardware. However, the brushed aluminium silver finish we reviewed today is pretty unique, and it has a more grown up look and feel to it that means it’ll work well as a gaming rig, HTPC, or even in an office space.

Pros

  • Excellent build quality
  • Small footprint
  • LED 120mm fan pre-installed
  • New top panel ventilation
  • Fits a two slot expansion card
  • ATX PSU compatible
  • Fiercely competitive price
  • Great range of colours available

Cons

  • Not ideal for first-time builders, it can be tricky to work with
  • A real challenge for cable management enthusiasts

Neutral

  • 140mm or shorter ATX PSU recommended
  • Limited, but adequate cooling options

“Compact, stylish and affordable, the Metis Plus Aluminium is a great chassis for any small form factor build. It can be tricky to work with, but the result is certainly worth it.”
