UK publisher, Reef Entertainment has announced to MCV that there is a Rambo game in development and is due to be released in 2012. It will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The game will apparently “capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful”.
With the success of recent Sylvester Stallone films such as Rambo (Rambo IV),The Expendables, and The Expendables 2 just around the corner, the 2012 release seems as good as time as ever to kick start the well established movie franchise in the game world. Reef entertainment signed a deal with the film company StudioCanal which allows them to create several games based on the Rambo movies.
Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon said:
“I am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies, and when we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands,”
I am a huge Sylvester Stallone fan and Rambo being one of my favourites, I personally cannot wait to see what Reef Entertainment can do with the title. Reef entertainment doesn’t have the best track record for releasing 5 star games, with their most notable contributions being Wii ports of Sniper Elite and Rogue Trooper. However, if the game has anything to do with mowing down countless bad guys, one-man-army style, they can’t go too far wrong and could well be their best work to date.
