Razer is releasing a new version of their BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard with upgraded ruggedness moving forward. Featuring an IP54 rating, the keyboard now boasts certified dust and spill-resistant protection. Ingress-protection rating is the industry standard when it comes to electronic equipment.
The first number in the rating refers to dust protection, while the second number refers to liquid protection. Dust protection can be as high as 6, which means it is totally impregnable by dust. While liquid protection goes up to 8 which means it can be submerged completely. The BlackWidow Ultimate’s IP54 therefore offers very good dust protection for the internal component inside, and some protection from liquids spilling. Just don’t expect it to survive when you run it under a tap.
The new IP54 BlackWidow keyboard retains many of the features of the original. This includes mechanical key switches with 50g actuation, 10-key rollover, and green LED backlit keys. Although it does not have RGB LEDs, it does have pre-programmed dynamic lighting effects available. Users can also program the keys for macros, and accepts on-the-fly macro recording.
The keyboard is now available via RazerZone.com for $109.99 USD with free shipping included.
