Razer Imperator 2012 Expert Dual Sensor Gaming Mouse Review

A Closer LookFirstly, we do expect some other items other than the product itself, and Razer are no exception. Similarly to Tt eSPORTS they have included a small wallet that contains more items.
Opening this up reveals a ‘PC Master Guide’, a ‘Quick Start Guide’ and some other less useful items, which are not specific to this product.
Moving to the product itself, we find a fairly standard shaped right-handed mouse.
The cable is a sensible length, although not as long as some others we have seen recently. However, this mouse does have a Gold-Plated connector, which says a lot about Razer’s approach in producing this product.
Taking a closer look at the front of the mouse, we can see the Razer logo which is very subtly marked onto the surface. This does in fact have an LED behind it and so lights up during operation.
On the left-hand side we can see the two ‘forward and backward’ buttons.
As you can hopefully see from this close-up the buttons are installed into a larger groove. As you may have noticed on the back of the packaging this mouse incorporates : “Adjustable Side Buttons”. In fact, they mean these buttons can be moved forward or backward along this groove. An interesting addition to a mouse.
Moving to the other side of the mouse we don’t find any fancy adjustable buttons, as this is a right-handed mouse they have decided you don’t really need the extra buttons and that 7 might already be enough.
The front of the mouse reveals that there are two buttons behind the scroll wheel, and that the scroll wheel has two strips either side of the wheel which as expected do light-up in the Razer blue.
Moving to the bottom of the mouse, there is unusually quite a lot to look at.
Firstly there is the dual-optical sensor, with one being placed slightly to the left of the other. This allows the mouse to judge the lift-off distance very accurately.
The second thing to note is the slider on the right-hand side, this as you can probably guess is for the Adjustable Side buttons. This allows you to literally move the buttons on the left-hand side by moving the slider forward or back. As its a direct mechanical link and not some clever technological thing, the buttons don’t slide too easily, but this is certainly to be expected.
