Final Thoughts

Price

This is one of the most advanced gaming mice on the market, so it would be foolish to think it was going to be cheap. Clocking in at £134.99 + shipping from Scan.co.uk the Mamba certainly is a wallet buster, but when you factor in all the features that it offers, I couldn’t imagine it being possible for much less.

Overview

Razer has really set a new standard with the Mamba. Over the years, there has been some criticism of using a wireless mouse for gaming vs a wired one, but the Mamba is one of a few rare exceptions of gaming mice where the wireless performance is just as on form as the wired. Even if you do swear by wired performance for gaming, you have that option and the included USB cable comes right away from the wireless charging dock, and hooks directly into the mouse, giving you the best of both worlds.

The sensor performance on the Mamba is by far some of the best I’ve ever seen. The practical applications of 16,000 DPI are few, but it never hurts to have so much choice on the DPI range. What is impressive is how smooth the sensor performance is, regardless of the DPI settings. You’ll often find that as you increase the speed, you’ll see jitter and other inconsistencies in the sensor readout, but there was none of that here. Basically, if you miss a headshot, you’ve only yourself to blame.

Being able to adjust the LMB and RMB button response is really cool. Of course, it’s not something I expect people to change a few times a day, it’s more likely you’ll set it how you like it and leave it there, but knowing that you’ll get the switches as light or as heavy as you desire is a real game changer, as in the past it would mean buying a completely new mouse or even modding the switches to get the right feel.

Everything else is just a welcome bonus. RGB lighting isn’t going to make you a better gamer, but it’s a nice thing to have and the lighting engine on the Mamba is one of the most comprehensive out there. Fully programmable buttons, a macro recording engine, great ergonomics and grip, a stylish design, basically, the Mamba is ticking all the right boxes to make you want to make that sizable investment.

Pros

  • Exceptional build quality
  • Great ergonomics (right hand only)
  • Fully customisable RGB lighting
  • Programmable buttons
  • Wireless or wired operation
  • Charging dock included
  • Adjustable click response
  • Tilt-click scroll wheel
  • Flawless sensor performance

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • It is quite expensive, but given the range of features, you certainly get what you pay for

“The Razer Mamba is finely tuned to excel at gaming, but the wide range of features and customisation options on offer make it one of the best all-round mice we’ve ever tested.”
