A Closer LookThe Naga has all the design cues that we have come to expect from Razer’s mice. The top half of the mouse is finished in a practical rubberised paint which improves grip. It should also retain its attractive finish for a long time as it seems quite hard wearing.
The bottom half of the mouse is constructed from glossy black plastic which adds a little flare to the overall design. This picks up fingerprints and grime quite easily, especially considering it is the area you grip with your fingers. But these aren’t really noticeable unless you look closely because you will spend most of the time looking at the top of the mouse.
Like most other mice in Razer’s range, the Naga features a braided cable that terminates in a gold plated connector which ensures us that they are taking build quality seriously. The plastics used in construction are also good quality and the fit and finish is second to none.
The left and right mouse buttons are perfectly positioned for comfort, especially when combined with the bulge on the right side of the mouse which makes a perfect rest for your third finger. The mouse-wheel is illuminated on either side and has a very refined action. This lets you flick it quickly down long pages of text or accurately scroll through weapons or items in game.
While many manufacturers let you assign different functions to most of the buttons on your mouse, they don’t actually have any dedicated macro buttons. This is where the magic of the Naga comes into play. On the left hand side of the mouse there are no fewer than twelve programmable macro buttons. They do sacrifice the browser forward and back buttons for this and have moved them to the edge of the left mouse button. Of course you can re-assign these to macro functions if the twelve other macro buttons do not fulfil your needs!
On the top of the mouse at the back there is a rather interesting Molten’ red LED lighting feature which makes the mouse look a little bit more interesting. This can be turned off in the software if it’s not to your taste.
