Razer is one of the biggest names in the world when it comes to gaming, having created many award-winning products over the years, such as their mechanical keyboards, gaming headsets, mice and more. They’ve ever made successful moves into systems, mobile technology and systems. Now they’re getting back to keyboards with the release of the Ornata Chroma, which aims to innovate the switch market with its Mecha-Membrane technology.
“The Razer Ornata Chroma features a custom designed keycap that has been made shorter to reduce the time it takes for your actions to register, allowing your fingers to move freely between each key without missing a single stroke.” – Razer
“Designed from the ground up, the all-new Razer Mecha-Membrane combines the soft cushioned touch of a membrane rubber dome with the crisp tactile click of a mechanical switch to enable swift actuation for each key stroke.”
“Powered by Razer Chroma, the Razer Ornata Chroma goes beyond being able to create and display incredible lighting effects. With interactive in-game effects, you’ll experience more immersive gameplay as your keyboard reacts to your game.”
Love them or hate them, Razer has always been one for innovation, from unique mouse designs to their own mechanical switches, they’re usually working on something to shake up an otherwise repetitive part of the market. Their new Mecha-Membrane switches are not to be confused with plunger switch or any other cheaper alternative, these are far more on the mech than they are on the membrane side of switch design, with a ruthless focus on shaving down your reaction times and improving gaming performance.

The box comes with a very nice image of the keyboard on the front, as well as a cut-away that lets you actually test the keys. This is a nice feature, as it means people can get hands on with the new switches before they buy it in a retail store.
Around the back, a few more details about the switches, but otherwise it’s stylish images that make up the back of the box.
The keyboard comes with thick foam on the edges, durable cardboard spacers at the front and back, as well as a plastic hard shell top cover, keeping it very well protected within the retail box.
In the box, you’ll find the keyboard, which comes hard-wired with very nice quality black braided cable.
There’s also a magnetic wrist rest, which comes with a rather luxurious padded top; that’s going to be super comfortable to rest your wrists on.
