Steven Spielberg’s film adaptation of Ernest Cline’s dystopian sci-fi novel Ready Player One – a book which, as its name suggests, leans heavily on video game culture – is still a year away from release, but in the interim Warner Bros. is planning to release exclusive virtual reality tie-in content for the both HTC Vive VR system and a selection of mobile devices, via Viveport.

Vive is the perfect partner to bring that to life and also has the broadest reach to global markets for the use of VR in home, mobile and offline channels,” Blair Rich, President of Worldwide Marketing for Warner Bros. Pictures, said. “We’re delighted that HTC Vive will be partnering with Ready Player One and very excited to work with them leading up the movie’s release in Spring 2018.”

Ready Player One hits cinemas on 30th March, 2018.
