Reddit User Shares Their Custom ITX Founders Edition RTX 3060

A member of the PCMR subreddit has today shared their custom ITX RTX 3060 card inspired by NVIDIA’s founders edition design giving us a glimpse at what could have been.
ITX Founders Edition Cards
NVIDIA’s Founders Edition cards since the 700 series have looked fantastic and even more so from the 20 series onwards. As far as I’m aware, we have never had an official ITX variant of an FE card and the closest we’ve gotten is BIOSTAR’s GT 640 (TPU) which took the GTX 690 cooler and shrunk it into a cute size. Other than this we do also have the 1050 Ti design which as far as I know was an unofficial render. With no official founders edition ITX cards, some users have taken to creating their own and that includes this one shared today.
Custom ITX FE 3060
Reddit user Clashmains_2-account, taking inspiration from many others who have done the same, shared their attempt at 3D Printing an ITX FE card in the form of the RTX 3060 and whilst it definitely looks homemade, it does look cool. It features full metallic skirting with a GeForce RTX engraving and a hole for the power connector though unfortunately, the creator hasn’t printed a backplate for the card leaving it bare.
3D Printed Shroud
The card used was a Gainward Pegasus 3060 which Clashmain recreated in CAD software so they could model the new FE shroud around it. The shroud was 3D printed using PLA and contains a 92mm Noctua fan that has been stripped apart for this purpose. Those who are knowledgeable with 3D printing will know that PLA isn’t exactly ideal for this purpose as deformation can start at around 60c meaning this won’t be good for the long run. Clashmain did mention this and said this was mostly a trial run and intends on recreating the cooler with ABS in the future which can withstand higher temperatures. On the topic of temperatures, many of you will be wondering how well this cooler did and the answer to that is just fine and it ran effectively the same as the original Gainward Pegasus cooler.
Being a test model, there are a few rough spots but once Clashmain learns more about 3D Printing I’m sure they’ll be able to produce a very clean build with ABS and maybe even a backplate as well.
