Take Two are best known for their trigger happy attitude to lawsuits especially when it comes to GTA V and Rockstar Games with a strong history of disputes against modders and various other things beyond. The companies latest lawsuit involves Remedy Entertainment, developers of Alan Wake and Max Payne, who are being hit with a lawsuit over their logo’s resemblance to that of Rockstar Games.
From a report at respawnfirst.com, Take Two Interactive have opened a trademark dispute over the stylised R in Remedy’s logo and the one used in Rockstar Game’s logo. The logo in question is one that Remedy revealed back in April 2023 which was designed to be more defining of remedy as a whole as their previous logo was primarily inspired by their first two Max Payne games which they have since branched out from. Both of the logo trademarks can be seen on the gov.uk website here and here alongside the opposition details from Take-Two also shared in the Tweet below from respawnfirst.
The opposition was filed in August 2023 and is currently ongoing as of September 2023 based on the gov.uk website. Now in my opinion, I think Take Two are a scum on the gaming industry with their frivolous lawsuits so this one should be thrown out. They may both be the letter R but they’re both quite different in colour, the shape of the R and the star.
