Report: Apple Plans to Add Cameras to Apple Watches
Smartwatches have become an essential device for many users, allowing them to stay updated on notifications, calls, and other tasks without relying on their mobile phones. To offer something new for these devices, which haven’t changed much in recent years, Apple is planning to add a camera to its Apple Watch. This camera would offer a visual perspective to enhance Visual Intelligence.
Similar to Google Lens Technology
This new feature is similar to the technology that Google offers with Lens, and Apple has also included a similar function in the iPhone 16 with a recent update. The camera functionality is expected to be available on all Apple Watch models, including the regular ones, not just the more expensive ones. Apple plans to integrate the camera into the screen on the standard models, while the Ultra version would have the sensor located on the side, next to the power button and crown.
When Will This Be Available?
However, this new feature is not expected to be available for the 2025 or even 2026 Apple Watch models. According to Mark Gurman, these camera-equipped watches may be launched in 2027. This move seems to be part of a broader trend, as Apple is also working on AirPods with cameras to improve this new technology known as Visual Intelligence.
