Unwiredview.com reports that the Galaxy Note 3 will be arriving with a flexible display version. The rumour emerged yesterday but has since been confirmed by Sohu IT when a Samsung spokesperson went on record to state that the rumour is indeed true. The expectation of flexible displays has so far been that we will see them in the last quarter of this year from LG and from Samsung if they can keep their delays to a minimum. Now it appears those expectations are right on schedule because the limited production of a flexible display batch of Galaxy Note 3 handsets is expected to take place in October 2013, aka next month.
The key issue here though is that the flexible display won’t actually make for a flexible phone – because flexible batteries, circuit boards, processors and so on haven’t really been developed yet for mass handset production. As a result what the flexible display will mean is a new level of durability for the Galaxy Note 3’s display which will be nearly unbreakable. The Galaxy Note 3 with a near-unbreakable shock and water proof resistant display is just the next logical step for Samsung’s high end smartphone line as one of the big focuses for them with the Samsung Galaxy S4 was its rigorous dust and water proofing procedures.
