Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 Ray Tracing Updates Now Available on PC

Are you the proud owner of a ray-tracing capable graphics card? Well, regardless of if that’s one of the Nvidia RTX or one of the latest AMD efforts, there are now even more games that support the technology, allowing for realistic lighting, shadows and reflections. Capcom recently teased that these updates were coming, but I was only half paying attention, as I didn’t expect to see them released so quickly!

The Ray Tracing updates are for Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil 7, and will be available for PC gamers only, at least, for now, I don’t know if they have console plans. Furthermore, the update also adds support for AMD FSR 1.0, not sure where there’s no FSR 2.0 or even Nvidia DLSS support, but we can only hope that it’s under consideration for the next update.

Strangely, Capcom hasn’t detailed what ray tracing features they’ve implemented. Which is odd, as they went to so much trouble to implement them. Anyway, it seems like it’s Global Illumination and Reflections, which is the most performance-intensive of them all, so expect a big FPS dip when they’re enabled.

To get the latest update, just allow the update to take place on Steam. Also, check out the three side-by-side videos below, and let me know what you think in the comments section!
