Resident Evil 2 News Expected This Month On Games 20th Birthday

Resident Evil 2
Two years ago Capcom announced that they would release a remastered version of Resident Evil 2. Then… nothing. Seriously, I know that sounds a bit harsh, but since the announcement, news on the remake has been practically zilch.
Since we reported on the remake 2 years ago, there has been practically nothing since to tempt any of us.
Now, in fairness to Capcom, they were at the time working on the excellent Resident Evil 7. In addition, 2 years is nothing unreasonable in terms of game design. Particularly since in one of the few news stories we have had regarding this game, it was confirmed that Resident Evil 2 was going to be completely remade, rather than remastered. Something similar to that we’ve seen in the recent phenomenal looking Shadow of the Colossus.
In a report via The Guardian, however, a bit hint has landed that might get some big news on Resident Evil 7 very shortly.
Happy Birthday RE2
Now, just for something to make some of us feel a lot older. Resident Evil 2 is going to be 20 years-old this month. Yes, January 21st will officially be RE2’s 20th Birthday at least, technically. It didn’t release until April for the UK and Europe but let’s not let that fact get in the way of a good story.
In the last few days, Capcoms official twitter account has apparently just posted a picture detailing all games in the series which has led many to believe that on January 21st, we will finally get either news or an official release date.
The wait may finally be over for the RE2 Remake and given expected turn around times, a release in 2018 is, in addition, not entirely unlikely either. We at least know that the Resident Evil 2 Boardgame is coming in September 2018 which you can check out here.
What do you think? Resident Evil 2 – 2oth Anniversary Edition? Capcoms Twitter posting just a coincidence? – Let us know in the comments!
