Resident Evil: Code Veronica X Remake May Still Happen!

While the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake is certainly grabbing a lot of attention at the moment, it shouldn’t be forgotten that, in the realms of the recent Capcom trend of releasing RE Remakes, this wasn’t the one that fans were most requesting nor indeed expecting. That distinction undoubtedly goes to Code Veronica. And for good reason too.

Out of all of the older Resident Evil titles, I think it would be fair to say that Code Veronica is the one that would likely benefit the most from the ‘remake’ treatment. It was a great game and one that came with a fantastic story (even if the voice acting was about on par with the original). Ultimately though, it is also probably the one Resident Evil title that has probably aged the worst.

Will a Code Veronica Remake ever happen though? Well, following a report via Eurogamer, Resident Evil 4 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi certainly isn’t ruling it out!

Resident Evil: Code Veronica X – Definitely Maybe!

Speaking in an interview, when asked about the possibility of whether he would be working on a Code Veronica X remake following Resident Evil 4, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said that ‘if the opportunity comes, maybe’.

Now, this clearly doesn’t confirm that it ever will happen. Even despite the many, many requests from the Resident Evil community. It does, however, clearly show that if Capcom went ahead with it, it’s something he’d be at least interested in doing. – Will it ever happen though? Well, if so, we clearly shouldn’t expect anything until 2024.

On the plus side though, there is at least a fan remake which, all going well, is set for release later this year! Albeit, with the project citing that they will stop immediately if a C&D arrives from Capcom, maybe don’t get too excited about that just yet!

What do you think though? Which would you rather have as a remake; Resident Evil 4 or Code Veronica X? – Let us know in the comments!
