Upcoming Resident Evil Nintendo Switch Games Add Motion Controls

Motion Controls Heading for Nintendo Switch Resident Evil Releases!

The Nintendo Switch, since it’s launch in March, has been doing excellently. it is, without doubt, one of the major success stories of the year and made Nintendo a major player in the console wars again.

Although a personal opinion, I put part of the success of the Switch down to its move away from the Wii’s motion controls and the Wii-U’s screen novelty. With plans to massively ramp up production next year, the future for Nintendo is looking bright.

While a Resident Evil game coming to the Switch might sound like fantastic news, this writer is a little nervous. Firstly, it’s the Revelation games, not an original title. Secondly, it’s heavily incorporating motion controls reports Polygon.

Resident Evil on the Switch might, therefore, be terrifying, but for all the wrong reasons!

Cynical even before the release!

Yes, I know, I’m not giving this a chance, but hear me out. I do have history to base this upon. To start with, and yes, this is my opinion, but Revelations wasn’t great. It was an ok 3DS game in 2012. It later saw a lot of ports, most of which on the surface seemed very lazy.

We are, therefore, here, seeing a Switch port of a game that is over 5 years old. Yes, they have likely updated the graphics, but to recap, a remake of a game that wasn’t particularly great in the first instance.

It would have just been so much nicer if this had been the Resident Evil 2 (not) remaster we’ve been waiting so long for.

My final concern is motion controls. While we have seen a few games that have implemented them on the Switch, such as Mario Odyssey and Zelda, they have been limited.

I see the video below and just get flashbacks of the Wii. Not good ones either.

I could be wrong. I’ll openly admit I am being a little cynical regarding this. Hopefully, this will be great, but for £19.99 each, this could go either way.

Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 will be released on November 28th.
