Released earlier this month, I think it would be fair to say that the overall reception to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, from professional outlets/critics/reviewers at least, was mostly tepid. Including ourselves, we all mostly came to the same conclusion. We agreed that it was an excellent graphics card, but was mostly hindered by its not-entirely attractive price tag. Not to mention, of course, the somewhat iffy claims from Nvidia that it could outperform the 3090 Ti by up to 3 times (which, in a quick summarisation, it did not! – Check out our review video below for more info).
Following a report via Videocardz, however, it seems that despite the mostly underwhelming response from critics, the Nvidia 4070 Ti might be providing to be a bit of a huge early doors hit with consumers as retail sales figures from Germany have shown it selling more than both the AMD Radeon 7900 series and the Intel Arc platform combined!
We should note that this retail pool is rather limited and clearly may not be representative of the market as a whole. With that little disclaimer out the way, however, the retailer in question has confirmed that they have sold circa 535 Nvidia 4070 Ti graphics cards so far since its release which is more than both the AMD 7900 XT, 7900 XTX, and the entire Intel Arc series combined.
Well, just as a side note, AMD got circa 500 sales whereas Intel Arc managed just 20! – So yeah, make of this what you will (poor Intel).
Overall though, it does seem to suggest that the 4070 Ti is proving popular with consumers. Albeit, possibly because despite the lack of Founders Edition models, it is somewhat sticking around its $799 MSRP making it, at least right now, about one of the most affordable Nvidia graphics cards around. Well, unless you consider those still stubbornly high last-gen prices competitive.
