Rick and Morty has been one of the best TV shows around in recent memory. While season 3 did prove to be a little divisive amongst the fans, I think most would agree that it was good to see it back.
Having waited 18 months between Season 2 and 3, there was for a time a growing concern if we would ever see the show again. Unfortunately, moving forward, it doesn’t seem that seasons are going to come any quicker.
In a report via Polygon, Ryan Ridley, who works as a scriptwriter for the show has made some revelations that is not going to be good news for fans of the show. This, despite it officially being Adult Swims most successful show to date.
Firstly, absolutely no work has begun on writing for the next season. Not a word. Some might think this is just specifically for Ryan Ridley who might have been cut-out. He does, however, go on to confirm catagorically that no one is writing anything: “They really take their time. I never understood why everybody — all parties, Dan, Justin, and Adult Swim — didn’t get their sh*t together, and make the show fast. I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m sure they all have their reasons.”
Well, if he wasn’t cut out before, he might be now.
With no work currently being underway, based on the rotation time of the previous season, he has warned that nothing should be expected before late 2019. This will represent an even bigger wait than we had for season 3.
While co-creator Dan Harman has confirmed a 4th season will happen (and perhaps with some cameos) there is no news on season 4. Worse still, Adult Swim have said that Rick and Morty hasn’t even been ordered.
So, if you’re waiting for Season 4, find yourself a comfy seat. You might have a long wait ahead of you.
