Over Power Protection and Max Wattage
With this being as 1200 watt power supply, it’s unlikely that you could need any more. It is, however, important to know how much further power supplies can be pushed. Not only to see what extra it has under the hood but to ensure that the overpower protections actually work.
Despite this already having a hefty output of power, our testing found that if needed an additional 255 watts could be squeezed before the protections came into place. In terms of comparison, this is about exactly what we would expect to see. In practical terms, this power supply does have a little extra to give if you need it, but if you push it too far, at least you know its self-preservation is in good order.
