The Riotoro Builders Edition 1200W power supply retails for a price in the region of £159. While for a PSU, might seem a little expensive. That’s pretty fantastic value for a PSU of this power output, and significantly lower than similar specification units from some of the other big names in the business. Remember, this power supply not only has 1200 watts of power, but it also has a gold-efficiency rating. In addition to that, our testing shows its an absolutely phenomenal performer. When you throw into the equation the 7-year warranty, this power supply isn’t a purchase, it’s an investment for the future!
There’s not much you can do with a power supply to make it attractive. Well, aside from throwing some RGB lighting on it. In regards to the Riotoro Builders Edition, it does look like a fairly standard power supply. They have, however, make several design choices that make it stand out from the crowd.
Let’s not kid ourselves here though. This power supply is no-nonsense. While it might not be the prettiest thing you’ll see, this is one of the best and hardest workers you’ll have in your system.
Usually, during testing, there is one little blip that gives us something to pick fault with. In regards to the Riotoro Builders Edition though, there isn’t one. In all of our testing, it gave excellent results. Efficiency, PFC, OPP, ripple etc. this power supply passed every one of them. In fact, a pass is an understatement. This power supply breezed them.
In terms of efficiency, this is faultless. In terms of durability, it looks bullet-proof.
If you need as 1200 watt power supply, the last thing you’re going to want to do is to go in too cheap. This is, after all, perhaps the single most important component a PC can have. Yes, it doesn’t do much for your actual PC, but a solid power supply is worth its weight in gold. With the excellent test results, this power supply is perhaps the best we’ve ever reviewed. I honestly found so little to fault with it that the best I can manage if I really try, is that the cables are a bit stiff going into the PSU ports. That’s it. That’s my sole fault with this power supply. For 1200W and a true gold efficiency, the Riotoro Builders Edition should be on any serious PC owners list!
