Riotoro Enigma 850W Fully-Modular Power Supply Review

Efficiency, PFC and Voltage Regulation
Voltage Regulation
Across our various load tests for the voltage regulation, the Riotoro Enigma have excellently consistent results. With hardly any deviancy there’s certainly nothing to worry about here.
As you can see in the charts below, the results provided were almost exact for every percentage and that speaks of a good, solid service.
Power Efficiency
The Riotoro Enigma is a gold-rated efficiency power supply. As such, it must adhere to certain percentages at differing loads. Put simply, 88% at low and high and around 92% in the middle.
In this regard this power supply just about warrants it’s rating, but we were a little concerned in regards to the 20% testing. This provided us with a result of 87.17%, just slightly lower than what it should be.
We’ve often found our testing to be very accurate in this regard with many power supplies providing a higher than expected result. This is, therefore, a little confusing. We wouldn’t categorically say that this isn’t gold-rated, but based on our testing, it’s a very close run thing and a lot less optimistic than that Riotoro say on the box.
That being said though, from 40% onwards, the efficiency rating is consistently above 90% and that is certainly a positive factor that should allow many to overlook the 20% scoring. I mean, it’s not likely anyway that a system would only draw 20% of the power anyway.
Power Factor Correction
The PFC rating is exactly what we would expect. While it does start off a little low (perhaps a correlation to the efficiency scoring) it continually gets better as the power is increased.
