The Riotoro Enigma 850W retails for a price in the region of £100. For a gold-rated, fully-modular power supply, that’s pretty decent value. While this power supply doesn’t have any specific bells and whistles that make it stand out from the crowd, the value almost certainly should.
You would, after all, struggle to find a power supply with these features (let alone a 7-year warranty) for less than £120.
In terms of the design, the Riotoro Enigma has a nice sleek style. It is, admittedly, hard to make a power supply look good, but Riotoro has managed, with some nice clean designs, to keep this pretty. You won’t find any massive blobs of glue or sealant and in terms both internally and externally a clear eye towards temperatures and air flow has clearly been made.
This is where things get a little strange. We are accustomed to seeing strange results under testing, but rarely two within the same product. When you consider the slightly below par opening efficiency scoring and the unusual fan speed test results it’s a bit strange. The only conclusion that I can draw is that the ‘Enigma’ brand might be referring to the fan speed. Taking everything as a whole though, this is clearly a good power supply.
The efficiency ratings after the initial score become very impressive and in addition, the ripple scores are remarkably low.
You will never struggle to find a power supply. There are literally hundreds of different models out there that are worth considering. So why the Riotoro Enigma? Well, firstly, this power supply has 850 watts of power. This is more than enough nearly any gaming PC setup. Additionally, it also has plenty under the hood to find more power if needed. Secondly, despite some unusual results, the tests were overall highly positive. Thirdly, this is gold-rated, non-modular and available for around £100.
In terms of price, this is a big tipping point for any of the more strange results this provided.
If you are therefore thinking of buying a power supply, you wouldn’t go far wrong with the Riotoro Enigma. For the price, itt gives a heck of a performance!
