Efficiency, PFC and Voltage Regulation
Voltage Regulation
Given what we’ve seen on the inside of the power supply, at this point we were very curious to see how it managed under our testing methodology.
Starting with the voltage regulation, so far, it’s good news. The Riotoro Onyx 750w power supply provided remarkably consistent results throughout the various load percentages we put it under. While there is a little deviance in the -12V rail, overall the results are impressively strong. A particular highlight is a very low difference in figures produced. A remarkable level of consistency!
So far, so good!
Power Efficiency
As this is a gold-rated power supply, it must achieve at least 88% efficiency at the low and high range while getting up to around 92% in the middle. In this regard, the Riotoro Onyx 750w power supply is almost the perfect definition of gold-efficiency. While it doesn’t go much above it, the efficiency rating given in our testing shows it to be a warranted certification.
At the lowest end, the power supply is easily over 90% in terms of efficiency and nearly cracks that again at 100%. Overall, while the results are not necessarily spectacular, it’s exactly what you want to see.
Power Factor Correction
The PFC ratings for the Riotoro Onyx 750w power supply starts off a little sluggishly. The more you put this to work though, the better the results start to get. Achieving around 0.97 at full load, this again is ticking all the right boxes in terms of testing.
