Performance and Comfort
Starting with comfort the Roccat Kone is certainly not bad. It has a nice feel to it; it is quite a solid mouse with a very slight rubber feel to the top and sides. The keys are mostly easy to access without stretching although the button at the front is a bit far away with my usual hand-grip although this is not designed to be a button you press repeatedly during games for instance.

The general performance of this mouse is pretty impressive; the highest DPI is high and gives a precision hardly paralleled by any other mouse on the market. The drivers give loads of options allowing you to tweak it exactly to your needs to make it feel as much as possible like it’s a part of your hand. This during gaming can really pay off, although it will take time for you to find your way around the driver pages and to work out what is right for you. It is especially useful to be able to switch gaming profiles at a press of a button so you can have 1 set up for Windows desktop use and 4 others for various games, all which can be accessed easily. There are some concerns as to how you would remember the order of the 5 profiles but presumably if you were enough of a gamer to use all these options you’d be able to remember your 5 different set-ups and the differences between them. The mouse is generally very fast and an instant response from every button press occurs, this is due to the very high polling rate of 1000 Hz (that’s 1000 times a second!). The ability to tilt the scroll wheel is mildly useful but I have yet to find it an essential addition to a mouse – this will suit some people a lot more than others.

This is not the most comfortable mouse I have tested, even though it is not uncomfortable but It does make up for this in performance. During gaming sessions this mouse will give you an edge over nearly all of your competition but without a lot of careful setting up you may be no better off and might even end up making it harder for yourself if you set the mouse up incorrectly for your taste. I also feel the various weights are quite beneficial to the feel of the mouse although I would find it hard to decide which weight was the best for me as they are all quite close and quite frankly don’t make huge amount of differences.
