Price
There is no easy way around this part, the Ryos MX Pro is expensive, its in the upper price range for mechanical keyboards and as the flagship model for Roccat, you can’t really expect it to be budget friendly. Here in the UK the keyboard will set you back £149.99 from Overclockers UK, while US fans can find it on Amazon.com for around $169.99. Yes there are cheaper mechanical keyboard that will still feel just as great to type on, but there is so much more on offer here and if you want the extra features, expect to pay a premium.
Overview
The price may put many people off of a potential purchase, but given that you can get a great mechanical keyboard for around £100 and still get almost no extra features beyond LED back lighting, the MK Pro is incredible value for money. It’s high price is justified by the extensive feature set that Roccat offer and it certainly looks and feels like it is worth the asking price. There are dedicated macro keys, thumbster keys, a built-in wrist rest, the Shift[+] function, built-in USB 2.0 and audio hub, customisable back lighting, dual internal processors, 2MB of internal memory and more, in terms of computing power this keyboard leaves the competition eating its dust!
Build quality is superb and while some may be put off by the oversized chassis and built-in wrist rest, I find it to be a nice compliment to the design and it’s certainly a lot better than the clip-on rests that tend to break after heavy use. The only downside I see here is that you may need a large desk space to accommodate it. It is bulky and heavy, but when you’re gaming it’s great to have a keyboard that isn’t going to slide around, and isn’t going to break when you face plant into the keys from tiredness.
In my opinion, Roccat has the best software in the business and configuring the keyboard is easy enough for new comers to understand, but still has all the depth and features that gaming pros would desire. If you can afford it and you can accommodate it on your desktop, then this could be the greatest keyboard you ever own, it really is that nice. The only thing it needs now is fully customisable RGB lighting and dedicated media keys and I may never buy another keyboard again.
Pros
Cons
“Roccat have some of the coolest gaming peripherals on the market and the Ryos MK Pro is without a doubt the best they have ever made. It’s big, it’s expensive and it packs more features then you’ll likely ever need, but once you own it, you may never want to give it up”
