Roccat RYOS TKL Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Gaming on the Ryos is an absolute joy, but it was hardly going to be disappointing given that this is a high-end mechanical gaming keyboard. The Cherry MX Brown switches are not my personal favourite, as I’m used to using MX Black switches, but they still feel snappy and responsive. Not forgetting that the typing actuation and feedback of Cherry switches is a premium experience no matter what type of switch you choose.
The wrist rest is a really good size, perfect for keeping your hands at a comfortable angle during those long gaming sessions. What I really enjoy are the thumbster keys. You can easily forget the thumb keys are there and never bother with them, but if you train yourself to use them, they can be a fantastic tool for gaming. Set one of them to knife for FPS games, or apply macros to them for MOBA games and you’ll wish all keyboards had these extra keys. For me personally, I think the best part of the keys is for productivity, set them to cut, paste and a macro to trigger a Photoshop action and I can really boost my editing workflow.
The Roccat software is some of the best I’ve ever used and quickly tuning the keyboards macros and settings is incredibly easy. The added bonus is that you can pair the software with your other Roccat products, such as your mouse and share macros and features across each product.
I don’t like TKL designs for work, as I extensively use the number pad, but having a keyboard that’s not as wide does free up a huge amount of space on my desk for my mouse and you can start using lower DPI settings and a larger mouse mat; it really is down to your personal preference.
