Price
The Roccat Ryos TKL Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard isn’t cheap and will set you back around £110-120 from most major retailers. This isn’t the price bracket of your average consumer, but the Ryos is targeted at a more pro gaming/enthusiast PC user level. It is a little more expensive than some most rival offerings, but it does offer a lot of features.
Overview
Roccat have done it again, delivering a premium grade product that doesn’t disappoint one bit. The Ryos TKL Pro is a fantastic keyboard overall and while I wouldn’t say it’s the best in the world, it’s certainly comparable with the best of the best; you’ll struggle to find anything better without spending a lot more money.
On the face of it, this is a pretty straight forward gaming keyboard with all the usual features you would expect. However, Roccat has really done a great job with their software, making the keyboard really easy to customise to your liking. The addition of dedicated macro keys, as well as the very handy thumbster keys will also help you make better use of all the extra software functions.
The build quality is fantastic throughout and while I’m sure some may prefer an all metal chassis at this price range, the quality of the plastics on the Ryos is very good overall and it certainly manages to look like a premium quality/priced product. The Switches are obviously of a very high quality and the built-in lighting controller and macro engine are as good as they get too. While I don’t much care for per-key lighting and complex configurations, I’m sure there’s many of you who do, so that’s always a welcome feature.
While the keyboard is obviously designed for the eSports and Pro Gaming market, anyone who loves gaming will enjoy what the Ryos TKL Pro has to offer; so long as they can afford it. It’s also a nice keyboard to type on in general and when the gaming stops and you have to do some work, the Ryos is just as competent for writing emails as it is for gaming.
Pros
- Excellent build quality
- Per-key lighting engine
- Great macro features
- Thumbster keys and dedicated macro keys
- Built-in wrist rest
- Choice of Cherry switches
- Great for work and gaming
Cons
- Quite expensive, although it’s easy to see why
- No key-cap removable tool in the box
- Not as portable as some TKL keyboards
- Hard-wired cable
“In terms of performance, the Roccat Ryos TKL Pro is one of the best gaming keyboards on the market and anyone who buys one will be very happy with it. Just keep in mind that this isn’t as portable as most other TKL keyboards and those wanting a truly compact solution may want to look elsewhere.”
Thank you Roccat for providing us with this sample.
