Roccat Skeltr Multi-Format RGB Gaming Keyboard Review

A Closer Look

The keyboard is a fairly familiar design for those who have used or seen a Roccat keyboard before, offering a fairly standard full-size keyboard design, with a few bonus features dotted around the edges.

Down the left of the keyboard, you’ll find five fully programmable macro keys, great for work and gaming tasks.

In the top corner, two audio and call control buttons, so that you can answer calls on your mobile when it’s paired with the keyboard; handy for taking a call on your headset without quitting out of your PC game!

The keys used are membrane, but they’re super light to strike and have an incredibly snappy return rate, making them feel really fluid; this is going to be great for those who type fast or require rapid keystrokes for gaming.

The keys are RGB LED lit, but so too are the sides of the keyboard, with a lighting strip tucked behind that futuristic chassis design.

A classic feature of Roccat keyboards is still here too, with three special thumbster keys that can be programmed with macros; I use them for copy and paste on my own Roccat keyboard.

A full-size number pad, nothing special, but certainly a handy thing to have.

There’s some really nice trim around the edge of the keyboard, and while it is plastic, you can see that it has been designed and finished with attention to detail.

In the top right corner, two more mobile buttons; one for Bluetooth pairing and one for launching Roccat Swarm.

Along the top edge, there’s a deep groove with soft yet durable rubber; this is where you can slot your mobile device.

Around the back, a USB pass-through and an audio jack for your mobile device.

Further along, two more audio jacks to connect your headset/microphone.

There are plenty of hard-rubber grips on the base of the Skeltr, which do a great job at preventing it from sliding around your desktop while you’re gaming.

There are two kick stands, which also have rubber grips so you’re not losing too much traction while they’re deployed.

The detachable wrist rest provides a greatly extended chassis, giving you a more comfortable hand position. Of course, it’s completely optional, but we prefer it in place.
