Performance

Without a doubt, this is a great looking keyboard right out of the box. However, fire up the power and you’re treated to a rather stunning RGB light show. With the controls on the keyboard, and more so through the Roccat software, you can tune into a range of cool lighting effects on the Suora FX, and pick from 16.8m colours, so finding that nice eTeknix blue that you love so much couldn’t be any easier.

This is not a cheap keyboard, and at first it can be a little hard to see why. However, it’s clear that it has a powerful and responsive lighting engine that can keep up with the likes of Corsair and Razer, to name but a few. If you’re big on your lighting effects, you won’t be disappointed here.

Gaming on the TTC switches is great, and while they’re not as common as the likes of Cherry MX switches, I can’t really tell the difference between the two brands Brown models, they’re easily comparable, although not using Cherry hasn’t helped keep the price down, which is a shame. When it comes to gaming though, these switches deliver the high-end mech thrills I was looking for, they’re light, fast, responsive and have a lovely tactile feedback without being as noisy as Blue switches. These macro keys are great too, not perfectly placed, but I’m not going to mark Roccat down for adding any amount of extra functionality.

So we’ve got cool lighting effects, a powerful macro engine, fantastic switches, a slim chassis design, and more, there’s really not much to complain about here at all.

I love keyboards with dedicated multimedia keys, and the Suora comes pretty close with dedicated volume controls, but the music controls are tucked away on the FN-shift, I guess you could macro them around, but I’d prefer full dedicated as it’s easier to skip songs while you’re in a multiplayer game, which isn’t something you want to be tabbing out of. I’m being picky here of course, but it’s just a thought.
