Roccat Tyon FPS Gaming Mouse Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Tyon isn’t cheap, as the mouse will set you back around £84.99 from most major retailers. This is expensive, but when you look at the range of features on offer, it’s about on par with any other high-end gaming mouse on the market.

Overview

Roccat has really pushed the limits with the Tyon. It’s packed full of features, possibly more features than any one user is likely to use. This is no bad thing, as you can be sure that no matter what task you’re using the mouse for, be that working in photo editing software, just browsing the web, competitive gaming or using loads of macros and button configurations for MMO and FPS gaming; the Tyon will have a setting or configuration that is perfect for the job.

Out of the box, this is a really nice and easy mouse to use, but you really will want to spend a few days fine tuning the settings and dialling in multiple profiles to really enjoy everything that it has to offer. It takes a little time, but the software is intuitive enough that even a first-time user shouldn’t have too much trouble getting everything configured to their liking.

The button layout is certainly unique and while I don’t think I’ve ever needed an analogue control on the side of my mouse, I’ve no plans on giving it up any time soon either as it adds an interesting dynamic to my gaming setup and controls.

It’s not just a high performing gaming mouse, I also think it’s one of the best looking mice I’ve ever tested too. The aesthetics are aggressive and sleek at the same time, with the added bonus that it feels as much of a premium quality product as it looks. Build quality is robust and refined, I have no doubt that it’ll be a very long time before anything goes wrong with this mouse.

Pros

  • Exceptional build quality
  • Huge range of features
  • Easy to use
  • Suitable for multiple play styles
  • Unique analogue controller
  • Excellent sensor performance
  • Extensive configuration via software
  • Customisable lighting
  • Comfortable ergonomics

Cons

  • Right hand only
  • It is quite expensive (although it’s easy to see why)

“I’ve tested a lot of mice over the years, but the Roccat Tyon is certainly one of the best I’ve ever tested. It’s packed full of features, it’s easy to use and it’s very well designed overall. It’ll take some exceptional for Roccat to ever improve on this design.”
