Second Fast and Furious DLC Coming to Rocket League

Rocket League

Are you a fan of football (or soccer if you don’t know your sports)? Do you like cars? – Then the chances are that you have played Rocket League. If you have not, then boy you’re missing out on some good fun. I mean, football with cars? How could you possibly go wrong?

Owning the game myself, it seems that those sentiments are shared by at least 39,999,999 people as in a report via PcGamesN, Rocket League has topped over 40 million games sold. Not bad for a pretty simple premise.

Upon doing a little research, I must confess that I was amazed that this game was over two and a half years old now. Originally released on the PC in July 2015 it has been consistently popular. It remains amongst Steams highest grossing games, even in 2017.

The reason for the popularity

While I completely understand that football doesn’t appeal to everyone, this isn’t entirely a football game. Similarly, while I understand that racing/car games do not appeal to everyone, this isn’t a racing game. Rocket League has struck a perfect balance in many respects. Perhaps the biggest reason that Rocket League is so popular is that it is so casually accessible. Literally, anyone can pick this up and have a go. Yes, while the beginners might be ball chasing or flying through the air on their rockets, there are some amazingly good people at this game. Incidentally, I am not one of them.

For such an accessible game, the release on the Nintendo Switch was a no-brainer. It was a perfect match. Perhaps, dare I say, a better match than the PC version. Except, you know, the whole resolution and FPS business.

The inclusion of cross-platform play also means that finding a game is never too much trouble. Equally so, playing with friends can be amazingly good fun.
