Rockstar is embracing the classic library!
It has been over 4 years now since Grand Theft Auto 5 amazed us all. Seems crazy to think it was that long ago. With a lot of hype building around the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2, there is still no news on a new GTA title.
There is, however, some good news for fans of the series. Rockstar has applied for a set of age ratings for a bunch of its classic titles, including some GTA, for the PS4. We, therefore, could have access to more classic titles very shortly.
In a report via the Guardian, following up from a previous release of Rockstar ‘classic’ titles. It seems that while we’re waiting for something new, they might be working on giving us some great older titles.
We do of course regularly get updates in GTA 5 Online, but you won’t find many complaining about some classics being re-released.
So what classics can we expect from Rockstar?
Based on the application for age ratings, we can confirm a probable release for the following titles.
- Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories
- Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories.
- Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition
- Max Payne 2
This isn’t entirely surprising. We do after all already have access to a number of classic Rockstar titles on the PS4 including GTA Vice City, San Andreas and Manhunt.
Given that Rockstar seemingly has the older console conversions to PS4 nailed, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect more classics to come. Although, still no news on Red Dead Redemption 1.
So, while we await news on Red Dead Redemption 2, at least we will have these to look forward to.
While we do not, at present, have a release date for the above titles, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect them shortly.
