It has not so much been a point of speculation but more an almost guaranteed fact that Rockstar Games was probably already working on GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) and had likely been doing so for at least two to three years. With the lack of any official announcement though, the current status of the gaming project was more than a little unclear. – Following a report via Videocardz, however, Rockstar Games has finally confirmed that GTA 6 is officially in full-blown active production!
Now, before you get too excited with this news, we should note that the formal confirmation is, pretty much, where this news begins and ends. Rockstar Games has revealed absolutely nothing about GTA 6 beyond the fact that they have now publically confirmed that development is “well underway”. – In terms of a release date, therefore, while no official announcement has been made in regards to that, the short version is that a final product launch is still not expected to be made before 2025.
Admittedly, it’s entirely possible that GTA 6 is much further along in development than anyone outside of the company is currently aware of. As some of you are probably aware, Rockstar Games runs an exceptionally tight ship when it comes to leaked content and news surrounding an upcoming gaming title. With this in mind, therefore, although it is possible that it may be released sooner than we currently expect, we’d still suggest that 2025 is, realistically speaking, a far more likely target.
On the plus side though, at least with this news, Rockstar Games has officially let the cat out of the bag. Even if we’ve still probably got at least 3 years to go before we get a look at it!
