There are motherboards, and then there are motherboards… if you know what I mean. The ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME is in a special league of super-expensive feature-packed unicorn levels of insanity that few of us ever get to enjoy in our personal PCs. Certainly, it’s more expensive than any motherboard I’ve ever put into my own PC at home. We’re talking very little change from £1000 right here. If that’s enough to make your blood run cold, it’s best you found out now, rather than after you’ve fallen in love with it.
This motherboard likely has more features than I could ever really justify on the scale of the reviews we commit to here at eTeknix. It’s built for class-leading connectivity, so if you’re building a fast gaming PC, you can likely start much further down the ASUS range. If you’re building a rig that’s going to use huge amounts of RAM, storage, networking and external devices, and be pushing the latest flagship CPUs to their absolute limits 24/7, then read on. 20+2 110A Power Stages, DDR5 memory, two PCIe 5.0 M.2, two PCIe Gen 5 x16, 10 Gbps Ethernet, and dual USB4 Type-C 40 Gbps is just the start of what it has to offer, and honestly, if you’re not going to use ALL of that in your build, this motherboard isn’t for you, as those extra features (especially that some of them are doubled up), add to the overall price significantly.
“Bringing a legacy of ROG greatness along with a flurry of the latest tech for fully loaded builds, the ROG Crosshair X670E comfortably eases AMD Ryzen™ 7000 Series processors through the toughest workloads. This Crosshair Extreme motherboard boasts a robust 20+2 teamed power solution, support for high-speed DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 technology, Dual-onboard Gen 5.0 ready M.2 slots, combined with a bundled ROG Gen.2 card (Gen 4 & Gen 5 slot) and additional PCIe 5.0 M.2 card for lightning fast storage, Connectivity is handled by powerful Wi-Fi 6E, a 10 Gbps ethernet port and Dual USB4 Type-C connections, backed up by a fully comprehensive I/O panel. Visually the Crosshair Extreme is difficult to surpass with customisable Aura & Anime Matrix LED lighting and a 2″ LiveDash OLED panel that adds life and style to your RIG with real-time notifications or customisable GIFs. Eliminate loading-times and push your new 7000 Series processor to it’s limits with ASUS.” – ASUS
