This is by far one of the most ridiculous releases on the horizon, do I think it will succeed? No, do I think it will be popular, not really! BUT, do I want one? Oh god yes!
Nvidia has one of the most powerful devices here thanks to it being fitted out with the powerful 72-core NVIDIA GeForce GPU and Quad-core A15 CPU that will allow pretty much anything available to the Android OS to be displayed in all its glory on the 720p display.
I’m not sure if this is a console or a portable devices, its a little (see: lot) of a Frankensteins Monster in terms of style, which roughly equates to a flip up screens that is stuck on a controller which has speakers, storage and wifi crammed into the back of it, but it works and that’s what really matters.
“Take your gaming anywhere with Project SHIELD, a gaming portable designed for gamers who yearn to play when, where and how they want. With the advanced processing power of NVIDIA Tegra 4, a full-size game controller, breakthrough Wi-Fi technology, and stunning HD video and audio, Project SHIELD redefines what gaming can be.”
The most interesting feature however is that you can stream your PC games to the device, much like PlayStations Remote Play and the Wii U tablet can, will I use it, maybe not, will I need it, not really, I still want to try it though. Price is unknown, but estimates put it around £350 here in the UK.
